Relations betwixt the Father and the Daughter - Essay ExampleMan has no power of foreseeing the future. It could be possible that the procedure Latimer was getting the twenty-four hours she died could have saved her some of the agonies that she was going through. There is a reason wherefore some of the laws exist. Preservation of the human life is the ultimate goal of any government system and should be observed at all times. For instance, a person may decide to commit suicide at some point in life because they feel that nothing is working out for them. However, they only fall in that decision in the context of the immediate events. They may not feel the same the following day and if they commit suicide, they miss out on life. Pedophiles and Lack of Harsher Punishment Essay
Pedophiles and Lack of Harsher Punishment - Essay ExampleThus, for roughly people, the term pedophilia is not a well-grounded term but a diagnostic one. Prosecutors and legality enforcement in cases involving computers frequently use the word pedophilia (Borgeson and Kuehnle, 2010). H either and Hall (2007) state that pedophilia is a clinical diagnosis generally made by a psychologist or psychiatrist. It is neither a legal nor criminal term like forcible sexual offense, and legal term id generally used in criminal statistics. There ar laws that govern acts committed by pedophiles. One such law is the Megans law. However, it is difficult to estimate how the Megans law affects pedophiles. The definition of the term pedophilia does not allow the intent of whether the pedophilic individual is a sexual offender (a small fry molester) or not. It is important to note that not all pedophilic individuals are child molesters. An individual with any paraphilia condition can be legally in volved in it through masturbation and fantasizing (Borgeson and Kuehnle, 2010). Punishments given to those who commit pedophilia usually vary. There are states where the punishment is harsher compared to another(prenominal) states. In regard to punishment, there is an ongoing debate on whether the punishment for those committing sexual assault crimes should be made harsher or not. However, majority of the people are of the opinion that harsher or tougher laws will reduce the occurrence of these crimes (CQ Press, 2006). Thus, punishments for those who have committed pedophilic crimes should be made harsher. Harsher punishment will reduce the rate of pedophilic crimes. The aim of this orbit is to evaluate the form of punishment given to sexual offenders such as pedophilic individuals and propose the punishments to be harsher or tougher. As stated before, experts are of the opinion that harsher punishment will reduce the incidences of sexual crimes. In just about states, there are t ests done to ascertain if the individual has really reformed before release from prison. In Texas, sixteen months before the release of an offender, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice can have the individual evaluated to contend whether he is an SVP (sexually violent predator). If the individual is found to be an SVP, then he is eligible for look atment as an outpatient sex offender upon his release (Garib, 2011). The study is of great significance because the majority of the sex offenders are enured with blanket punishment, thus, they cause collateral consequences which develop more risk to the entire public (Hiller, 2011). Failure to treat pedophilic individuals and their release back to the society defeat the whole purpose of child protection. Despite the fact that experts are advocating for harsher punishments, there is a need for an individual to be treated before he is released to the society. This makes sure that the individual is fully reformed after he has served h is sentence in prison and the risk of children being harmed is reduced. literary productions Review A pedophile and a child molester have been often confused by child abuse professionals, the media, and the general public. They regard pedophiles as all individuals who sexually victimize children. However, there is no consistent definition of the word pedophile. It is important to note that pedophilia is a psychiatric diagnosis done save by qualified psychiatrists or psychologists. Not all child molesters are pedophiles. As mentioned before, an individual low from any form of paraphilia can be legally involved in it through

Terrorism is for the worse and yet unfortunately, the evolution of technology has advanced the fashion to commit acts of act of alarmism, both actual terrorism but in like manner cyber terrorism.T hink about the seemingly endless depth of technology, the complex features that go into make a bomb mechanism, you can only come to the solid conclusion that yes, technology has had a oecumenic effect on the act of terrorism. There be two representations in which you can insure this obvious revelation into the grim world of terrorism. You can look at i t with the first counsel as menti mavind, that terrorism has unlocked doors for terrorists to mapping to their improvement rude(a) hi-tech gadgets being illegally manu incidentured to their return on a daily basis, the Internet being seemingly insecure enough to meet lumberman terrorists, hack into government files and plot all forms of terrorist attempts. It seems as though technology advances, the resources for terrorism flourish. The second way how ever contradicts the first in a sense as technology improves and gives the terrorists new means to attack, with that comes new means to defend against them.High tech security measures such as CCTV cameras, infrared and heat sensors and seemingly space-age computer techniques make defending, foiling and preventing terrorist attacks much more easy than in the grim past. Ever since the overbold York bombings on September 11, 2001, not only America, but the completed world has been on the edge of their seating room in fear, save waiting for an all out terrorist attack to throw the entire population of human-kind into disbelief and awe, followed by the beginning of world war 3. With the capabilities of hacking into important Government strategys, terrorists have the power to view and detract advantage of every week point available to a specific country. With the wounds exposed, the terrorists attack. Is there really any way to sense when an attack is coming? Ever since the 9/11 bombings in New York and the 7/7 bombings in London, numerous people automatically wrongly associate those of the Muslim faith to be terrorists. The war on terrorism has inadvertently invoked a new era of race issues and prejudice inadvertently angiotensin-converting enzyme may think, but could this be what the terrorists wanted? There is no question that technology has changed terrorism in both of the aforementioned ways, for better and for worse. As technology continues to advance, terrorists will continue to find new means of attacking, just as the government will find new means of defending against them. It is just one big cycle that keeps advancing as time goes by. Technology has the power to change the future of terrorism. It has the power to advance it and it has the power to destroy it.It is simply a question of which one will prevail first, which is in its entirety, a very scary thought. 2-Terrorism has existed for centuries and continues to be a very real threat in modern times. The techniques to carry out an act of terrorism may have changed, but the fundamentals of why terrorists get back to carry out a terrorist act have not. Cyber terrorism is a newer technique terrorists utilize to confabulate their acts of violence, fear and intimidation on their cigareted victims. While it may have changed the dynamics of how terrorism is carried out, the underlying factors are much the same. The purpose of terrorism is to inflict terror through acts such as force, violence or destruction. Historically this has been carried out through bombs, hostage taking, assassinations, hi-jackings and guns of mass destruction attacks. Throughout history many contrastive kinds of instruments or intimidation have been used to invoke terror towards others. Technology is the latest tool active to meet this destructive objective. Cyber terrorism is the newest approach and it is one which has high potential to bring about crushing results much like the kinds of preceding violent attacks, but on a grander plateful.Todays politically motivated attacks are effectuateed with the intention to cause weighty harm, and cyber attacks certainly have high potential to trigger severe blot, frugal damage and even death. Many nations across the globe rely upon the ir practiced infrastructures. What better way to terrorise people than to attack the very foundation their society is built upon and relies on to survive? Many nations take the act of cyber terrorism seriously because it threatens the very core and existence of their society.Technology does not change the act of terrorism per se because the same ntents which have always been present when a radical commits an act of terror are there. Their goal is often to cause bodily and fiscal harm. Terrorism is an act primarily fuel by hatred and intolerance for those who are different. With the advent of technology terrorists have found other weapon they can utilize to cause widespread damage. It is in this respect that technology has changed terrorism. While technological advances have not necessarily changed the intents for terrorism, theyve certainly impacted what radicals are capable of and this is where terrorism has changed. What it has done is provide the terrorists with another method t o commit an act of terror and reach a larger number of victims. It too provides terrorists with an luck to pinpoint specifictargets without ever having to set foot on the soil of the region they are attacking. -google earth Cyber terrorism is a very real concern and security issue in todays world. The U. S. government has cyber attacks listed right up there with nuclear, chemical and biological threats.Although while cyber terrorism may not be a weapon of mass destruction, it is a weapon of disruption which is also harmful (Linda Volonino, Principles and Practice of Information Security). Can you estimate if an entire banking, emergency service, power plant, telecommunications, military or government infrastructure fell victim to a successful cyber terrorist attack? This could bring down the heart of an economy or government. Even if one target of this list was cyber attacked it would cause mass chaos or in some cases worse if it resulted in injury or death. While the motivators of terrorism remain the same, when terrorists use technology as a weapon it has real potential to be a very dangerous one which can result in mass destruction. The problem with technology is that it never stands still. What is new today is out of date within a grade and while many see this is progress, it produces difficulties when we apply it to something like terrorism. And its usually the counter-terrorists who are playing second take on to the terrorists responding to their advances and uses of new technology. It shows that while technology can have its uses, it also has many weaknesses. The computer is extremely multipurpose to modern life and our fight against terrorism, but is also useful to the terrorist in carrying out their everyday work. In short, technology has changed terrorism dramatically and will continue to do so, like a stone pull together snow as it rolls down a hill. Technology has opened up opportunities for both sides but it also means that neither can win bu t the war between them can only pose more violent, more deadly and more extreme.Technology has changed Terrorism because it has allowed terror networks to communicate with other terrorists and media networks almost the world. Alqeada promotes flicks recruiting susceptible to disaffected Muslims who disagree with the US policies in and around Muslim countries. The Internet is an unlimited big resource which can advance humanity when used for good purposes but with limited laws regarding the Internet because of the ever changing technologies, it is difficult to make laws to keep up with the growing technology.Terror groups exploit this and use websites for propaganda purposes, enlisting of Arabs and Muslims to radical extremism. Terror groups are using the Internet to funnel cash from charity groups in the US and Europe to finance their terror organizations by collecting charitable donations from mosques and other religious institutions. The US is incessantly monitoring suspecte d organizations affiliated with radical groups and keep an eye on the banking transactions sent abroad. boob tube games which friend many control and fortify skills in shooting, driving air planes, and driving cars. The FBI monitors merchants which sell video technology to Afghanistan and Pakistan because any technology which can be used to teach or advance technical skills are curb. Recently, the Obama and the McCain campaigns were hacked into by a foreign government assay to know their policies in advance. the US has to develop a system to protect themselves from the Chinese government and hackers which constantly launch cyber attacks against many other countries in any event the US. The Chinese are notorious for stealing information and technologies from other governments.Since 9/11 Terrorists have been trying to reach the US and launch a large scale attack against the US and its allies. Security has restrain in airports, intelligence agencies have infiltrated these terror c ells in the US and abroad and have stopped many planned attacks such as the NYC Lincoln tunnel attack. Many of these terror networks have lost their capability to organize an attack such as that of 9/11. The US government has a cyber anti terror network in the Pentagon and in many key government agencies protecting from the many cyber attacks that are launched against these agencies on a daily basis.Terrorist groups which have the inability to harm Americans on US soil may launch a cyber attack that could cripple Wall Street, destroy our infrastructure by hacking into electric plants, airports, transportation systems and banking industry. The Us still has outdated technologies regarding electric company grids which have not been updated into modern systems, it was rumored that last year when the entire East Coast lost electricity that it was a cyber attack the electric companies denied this rumor and said it was just to much usage and the system could not carry load.America has to develop technologies to counter cyber attacks and even use the foreign nations hacking against them by sending back a virus or worm that could destroy their system to discourage future cyber attacks. The Us should develop laws and catch up with the ever changing technologies regarding money clean and funneling of illegal money to Terror organizations using US and European banks, there should be a coalescency between major banks around the world to catch this activity and cut out all their money because without money the terrorists cant buy weapons and recruit people actively.TV reports throughout the world about the technology tools probably used by the terrorists in their effort to execute their hideous attack against the USA are sensational. Firstly, their communications must have been encoded to a point that intelligence services all over the world did not have the slightest idea that a criminal act of so grand a scale was on the way to be executed. We have heard from extravaga nt tools that can hide messages within the photographic images dots (stenography), satellite mobiles that encode communication and so on.All these TECHSare existent as well as widespread-even the mobiles we, uncomplicated citizens use nowadays encode our conversation, still in a relatively simple way, so that infinite security is not offered. The issue immediately raised is how and why such technologies have been released in the market, since the fact that they are to be used by bloodthirsty terrorists to assassinate thousands of people, is certain. The question of dangerous technology is a fair, yet a simplistic one.The first issue one has to think about is that once a technology is born, there is no way for it to be restricted on a long-term basis. It is noesis, and knowledge cannot be stopped with wire fences. Even in the event of technology diffusion being restricted by law, its possession by criminals cannot be prevented, and that constitutes another problem. They are in pos session of the means and of the financial support to acquire it. The second question that has to be raised is, to what extent should we accept dangerous technology ban?Should that be Cryptography? Should that be Flight Simulation Programs? (let us not forget that it is kinda mathematical that the terrorists had been trained as to how to approach their targets using the Microsoft Flight Simulator program, one amongst the most common programs in the world. ) Technology and Terrorism a brief Scenario Technology is double bladed sword and is to be handled with out-of-pocket care. It can be utilized for the welfare of the society as discussed earlier. Misuse of the same will emphatically damage and destruct the society like anything. The scientists and researchers of the whole world are trying their best to look newer technology for the benefit of the society. But their dreams have been shattered and certain anti social elements have utilize the modern technology in terrorism Modern technology has added great terrors and horrors to terrorism. Modern technology has also been characterized as a negative response to globalization. The terrorists are using and trying to use every possible technological resource to fulfill their evil targets. They are utilizing the knowledge of various engineering disciplines which mainly includes Computes I. T. Electronics and Telecommunications, ammo Engineering, Bio technology, space engineering, Chemical science and other core branches of engineering too. Technology A tool use by terrorists. Terrorists are employing various communication devices for easy, faster and optimized communications. It is observed that they are mainly taking the help of cell phones, radio audio signals, micro chips (a data handling device) and other advanced electronics and telecommunication devices. It is proven that they are widely using Laptops and Internet services and software to plan, develop and fund terrorist activities.

Eu Law Synopsised Judgment of Marshall Essay Example for Free
Eu Law Synopsised ruling of marshal EssayThe object lesson of marshal v reciprocal ohmampton and to the south western hemisphere Hampshire flying field wellness maturency (Teaching) (Marshall (No.1)) 1986 1 C.M.L.R. 688 arose in the United Kingdom. It concerned a dud Marshall who had been employed as a Senior Dietician with the Southampton and South West Hampshire champaign wellness pledge (Teaching) from the 23rd of May 1974 until her judgment of force outal on the 31st of March 1980, that is to say four weeks after she reached the be on of 62. Since 1975 the Southampton and South West Hampshire Area Health assurance (Teaching) had a written indemnity of that in general, its female employees should retire at 60 while its male employees should retire at 65. The policy say that the normal retirement advance forget be the age at which social security subsidys become payable. The policy was an implied termination of Miss Marshalls employment contract. Miss Mars halls employers waived this general policy in the case of Miss Marshall. If her employers had not d matchless this, then she would have been dismissed on the 4th of February 1978 (upon reaching the age of 60) but was in fact employed until the 31st of March 1980 (four weeks after she reached the age of 62), therefore her employer waived theyre general retirement policy in respect of Miss Marshall for two years. The applicable pension legislation in the United Kingdom at the time of the dismissal evoked that men were pensionable to receive a state pension at the age of 65 and that women were to receive state pensions from the age of 60 (Section 27 (1) of the Social Security locomote 1975). However this legislation does not impose any obligation to retire at the age at which the state pension becomes payable and when a individual continues in employment after the date when their state pension becomes payable, the payment of the pension is deferred. According to the set up of refe rence, the sole reason for the dismissal of Miss Marshall was the fact that she was a cleaning lady who had passed the retirement age apply by her employer to women. In view of the fact that she suffered financial loss consisting of the difference between her honorarium as an employee of her employer and her pension and also since she lost the satisfaction she got from her work, Miss Marshall instituted proceedings against her employer in the industrial Tribunal. She contended that her dismissal at the date and for the reason indicated by her employer which was that she was a woman who had passed the retirement age applied by her employer to women constituted discriminatory treatment by her employer on the grounds of sex and ,accordingly, unlawful unlikeness contrary to the Sex favouritism Act and Community law. Her guide was dismissed by the industrial tribunal as it was based on the infringement of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975, since section 6(4) of that Act permits dispari ty on the grounds of sex where it arises out of provision in semblance to retirement the industrial Tribunal took the view that the employers general policy constituted such provision but her other affirm that the principle of equality of treatment laid down by directive 76/207 had been infringed was upheld by the industrial tribunal.Miss Marshall appealed this case to the drill aggregations Tribunal and they upheld the decision of the Industrial Tribunal as regards that the claim was based on the infringement of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975, since section 6(4) of that Act permits variation on the grounds of sex where it arises out of provision in relation to retirement but in relation to the second brain, the Employment Tribunal set aside the question of whether the dismissal violated the principle of equality of treatment laid down by Directive 76/207, because although it did violate directive 76/207, the Employment Appeals Tribunal said that an individual could not ba nk on an infringement of a directive forrader a United Kingdom greet or Tribunal.Miss Marshall appealed the decision of the Employment Appeal Tribunal to the Court of Appeal of England and Wales. The Court of Appeal stated that Southampton and South West Hampshire Area Health Authority (Teaching) was constituted under(a) section 8(1)A(b) of the National Health Service Act 1977 and was therefore an upgrade of the enjoin. The Court of Appeal of England and Wales referred two questions to the Court of justice for a preliminary ruling, for an interpretation of European Union law. These questions were1. Whether the dismissal of Miss Marshall after she was sixty and on the grounds that she was a woman who had passed the retirement age applied by the Southampton and South West Hampshire Area Health Authority (Teaching) to women was discrimination which was prohibited by the Equal Treatment Directive 76/207.2. If the answer to question one is yes, open fire the Directive 76/207 be re lied upon in this case in national courts or tribunals in bitchiness of the fact that there whitethorn be inconsistencies between the Directive and section 6 (4) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975.The appellate (Miss Marshall) and the European Commission considered that the first question must be answered in the positive. The appellant argued that the said age limit deceases within the term working conditions within the nub of articles 1 (1) and 5 (1) of Directive 76/207. Furthermore the appellant argues that the discrimination on the grounds of sex is one of the main reasons for having fundamental human rights and therefore the general principles of EU community law, and the exceptions to these principles must be construe strictly, moreover the exception provided for in Article 7(1) of Directive 79/7 is not pertinent. The respondent (Southampton and South West Hampshire Area Health Authority (Teaching)) maintains as regards the first question, that the laying down of opposite ages at which you can compulsory terminate a contract just reflects the minimum ages stated by the State Social Security Scheme in the U.K. The respondent also considers that the state pension does not fall under directive 76/207 but is an aspect of social security and therefore falls under the directive 79/7 in which member-states can impose different ages to entitlement. The Court of jurist distinct on the first question that the directive it fell under was Directive 76/207 as the question it was referred concerns the fixing of an age limit as to when to terminate employment following a general policy of dismissal. The question therefore relates to the conditions and rules governing dismissal. The court further stated that Article 5 (1) of Directive 76/207 provided that men and women are entitled to equal treatment in working conditions which includes conditions governing dismissal meaning that men and women are guaranteed the same working conditions without discrimination on gro unds of sex.Following a policy of compulsory dismissing workers even if they get a retirement pension still falls under the term dismissal. The Court summed up the answer to the first question in saying that article 5 (1) of Directive 76/207 must be interpreted in meaning that having a policy whereby you dismiss a person for the reasons being that she is a women who has reached the age of qualifying for a state pension, when the age is different for men as it is to women, constitutes discrimination on the grounds of sex, contrary to Directive 76/207.The Court of Justice realised that since the answer to the first question was yes, then it is necessary to consider whether the appellant can confide on Directive 76/207 specifically Article 5 (1) of that directive in national courts and tribunals (Direct Effect). The appellant stated in their argument that directives are capable of conferring rights on individuals which may be relied upon directly earlier the courts of the member-Stat es national courts are obliged by virtue of the binding nature of a directive, in conjunctive with Article 5 of the EEC Treaty, to give effect to the pabulum of directives where possible, in particular when construing or applying relevant provisions of national law. The appellant also stated that articles 2 (1) and 5 (1) of Directive 76/207 was sufficiently surpass to let the courts apply them, a view which the commission shared with the appellant. The respondent stated in its argument that the directive should not have direct effect as directives can never impose obligations on individuals and that it can only confer obligations on a member state in its capacity as a public authority and not as an employer and finally it would be inappropriate to put persons employed by the state in a better position than those employed by a private employer. The respondent also stated that the articles in Directive 76/207 were not clear and unconditional enough to give rise to direct effect. In answering the second question, the Court of Justice stated that it does not matter whether the state is an employer or a public authority when an individual is relying on a directive against a member state in legal proceedings. This is necessary to prevent the state taking advantage of its own failure to comply with community law. The Court of Justice stated that the articles in the Directive 76/207 are sufficiently precise and clear in that they prohibit any discrimination on grounds of sex with regard to working conditions, including the conditions governing dismissal, in a general dash.Where a state fails to implement a directive by the end of the time period given, and if the provisions of the directive are unconditional and sufficiently precise, the Court of Justice ruled that the directive may be relied upon against the state, because otherwise it would not be compatible with Article 189s binding nature on directives. The Court of Justice answered the second question in sayin g that Article 5 in Directive 76/207 which Prohibits any discrimination on grounds of sex with regard to working conditions, including the conditions governing dismissal may be relied upon as against a state authority acting in capacity as an employer. The Advocates usuals opinion concurred with the judgement of this case. The legal significance of this case is that an individual may only rely on a directive in a national court when suing a public torso but the term public body has been given a wide interpretation by the European Court of Justice. Although Direct Effect was founded originally in the Case 26/62,Van Gend en loos 1963 ECR 1, in the Marshall case we have just looked at, the vertical nature of the directive meant that Marshall could take advantage of it, although an employee in the private sector would not have been able to. This would seem to give public sector employees an unsporting advantage over their private sector counterparts, but this glitch in EU law was res olved by the subsequent Case 14/83 Von Colson Kamann v Land Nordrhein-Westfalen which established the doctrine of substantiative Effect which is a mechanism of effectively using indirect means, to give a directive plane effect for all employees.BibliographyCases1. The Birthday Party Essay Example for Free
The Birthday Party EssayTheatrical features of the birthday federation The birthday company considered as one of the greatest Pinters work which reflect his own rules and features of his own drama. Perhaps Pinter is really different from other absurdist writers as the Irish Samuel Becket and Inesco.but in whatsoeverhow I can assume that the theatre of operations of the absurd as called by Martin Essllin has witnessed some other themes and set of ideas that makes it relevant .This is partly as a results of Pinters style of writing he does not preach lecture or categorical recital , but instead present his audience with incident ,characters ,language that suggest that something of great meaning is taking interject ,without ever being specific about what is it . So that the birthday party is an exploratory work that own the audience into a wide range of topic , and perhaps the most vital thing to mark it is at one and the same time a revive about the status of the artis t in society , and how raft fail to communicate, and about people select for protection .Language is a incision to articulate and express opinions, but in the birthday party people single-valued functiond language in other aims. we have the undesirability of communication characters do not want to talk with each other they use language as an escape from truth we do not know whether the word they said be true or false and that is related to lack of verification and unverifiability which is between truth and falsehood cannot be detected. In the opening of the count we have a talkative wo globe that speaks a lot with her husband in an absurd manner communicating things with no real value. Pinter suggesting that people are too panicked of real communication to use language for this purpose, because real communication may reveal other weakness and deficiencies thus much language in the feed is an attempt to cover up and evade the truth.Goldbergs memories of youth as an example used in order to remove from Goldberg the obligation or need to talk about what is happening now. So the whole theme in the birthday could be summed up by saying that in the birthday party people are show upn as being every unable or unwilling to convey accurately their feeling and thoughts to other people. Also in this play we have a struggle or a paradoxical situation between individuality presented by Stanly that presented as an artist in society. in this interpretation in which Stanly represent the man with creative endowment fund who defies the conventions of society by his mode of living as someone whorefuses the traditional way of thinking and the determine of society , and by refusing to accept it , and insist remains outside .therefore the character of Stanly considered as a terror to the system of society he may encourage other people to revolt against it.If this could happen people doesnt do what society demand from them it mean the collapse and a total distraction of society as a whole . therefore Stanly has to be drawn back in order to practise to the rules and being conformist by force if necessary .and the second part the two conformist man Goldberg and McCann whom considered as symbol that shattered the illusion of security of Stanly .that least one is an artist means exemption of artistic expression furthermore Stanly appears at end of the play in dark suit and white collar , shaven and unable to articulate or express himself this notions means Stanly start to fit in society . he has been made respectable, from this it is easy to argue that this is what society demands of its members an unthinking obedience and lack of any individuality . All Pinters play has the same scenario that have in the middle of it an unknown threaten that come from the outside valet de chambre. The first play was the room wirriten in 1957 that contains that idea of outlanders force. In the Birthday party the room have also a great significance that made by Har old Pinter, it means the security for Stanly also as a womb of a mother , somewhere warm secure for its inhabitants . This significance of the room is related to the isolation of Stanly as an individual member. But this security is shattered by outsiders forces which considered as metaphysical that comes from outside the room and show that this security is unrealistic, a vain of hope. We can say that outsider menace is the result of being strange and not like the majority of society. Stanly as an example he isolate himself from others and that what considered as a threat to the government. Finally we can assume that the play of the birthday party is an illustration of the state of modern man in the historical context after the second world war. I suggest that it main purpose is to describe the modern man who was influenced by the wars and violence he is lost and this feeling of lost is clearly shown in the play when Pinter used darkness in his play and this action made the reader and audience lost too. Obviously that theme of obscurity is also utilize at level of communication and use oflanguage when people fail to express their real emotion and opinion. There is an undesirability of communication people are frightened to tell other what they feel rather they progress silence and this use of pause by the writer is deliberately in a manner to show the audience that not everything we communicate is in purpose, but the truth is what isnt as Pinter said I think we communicate only too well in our silence, in what is unsaid. Also in this play we have the use of language as a weapon to distract and make other chase to others willing and that is a part of the menace which comes from the outside of the secure room .

Henry James The Turn of the Screw Essay Example for Free
Henry James The bring of the Screw Es governAt premiere glance, it would appear that Henry James The sour of the Screw and Tim Burtons Edward Scissorhands take on only one thing in plebeian they argon both from the mediaeval genre. But upon looking closer, one will notice that at that place are a number of other identical traits among the cardinal. There are noticeable similarities between Edward and the G all overness, as well as similarities between Edward and the two children in The Turn of the Screw, Miles and works. There are in addition general themes which the two share parts of a perfect society, as well as onlookers who collect no control over the amazeuation. both(prenominal) The Turn of the Screw and Edward Scissorhands overhear many traditional features of the gothic genre. However, when compared to each other, it is found that The Turn of the Screw has more of the traditional gothic elements. These include things such as the mysterious setting an atmosphere of mystery and suspense that is present passim the entire novel visions, which are a regular occurrence for the Governess supernatural events such as the ghosts and the possessions of the children juicy emotion women threatened by males, which is found on the many occasions in which the Governess feels threatened by Quint and there are many instances in which the women of the novel are in distress. In breach of this, a number of these elements can also be found in Edward Scissorhands, if not to a lesser consequence. These include elements such as the setting while the entire motion-picture show does not take seat in a gothic setting, there are times where the viewer is able to see Edwards fender home a mysterious, gloomy castle an atmosphere of mystery and suspense, which is an underlying theme throughout the movie visions to some extent experienced by the Boggs neighbour and supernatural events largely, the overall creation of Edward. Other elements that are similar between the two are women in distress in Edward Scissorhands, this is largely Kim and women threatened by males shown in scenes with Kim and her threatening boyfriend, Jim.There are not only similarities between the overall genre of The Turn of the Screw and Edward Scissorhands, barely between the characters as well. There are striking similarities between the Governess, the narrator of the book, and Edward, the master(prenominal) character of the movie. One of the most prominent is thatneither of these lead characters have much experience in the real world, as is evident through their actions and words. However, the Governess and Edward deal with this in different ways. Edward is generally dazed and disunited about everything. Nevertheless, Edward is willing to learn, and is open to being taught. In contrast, the Governess reacts to her lack of experience by acting as though she is knowledgeable. She is unwilling to try other methods, and refuses to listen to others who might know better. Both characters were also taught the distinction between right and wrong. Edward is taught this by the inventor, while the Governess is taught this through both her upbringing, and by her father. Both Edward and the Governess are taught this in theory, but have never experienced it in practice that is, they have never been able to take in the idea of right and wrong to the real world.Additionally, there are a number of similarities between Edward, and the two children, Miles and Flora. Both have overbearing female or mother figures in their lives. In Edwards case, this is his foster mother, Peg, who tends to be more caring towards him, and looks out for him. In the childrens case, this is the Governess. However, unlike Peg, the Governess coddles the children, spending all her time with them and not let them out of her sight. Both of them are also blamed for something which they didnt do, or which never happened. Edward is framed for the robbery and murder, whi ch had the likely to get him in trouble with the law. This was a deliberate blame and set up. On the other hand, Miles and Flora were accused of seeing ghosts, and lying about it. However, in contrast to Edwards situation, we never know whether this actually happened but either way, it wasnt a deliberate setup. There are even more similarities between Edward and the two children. Both of these characters are abandoned by their father figure. In Edwards case, this is in the death of his inventor. Because of this, Edward has to learn to cope for himself, and as a result, is confused about how to act correctly. This differs to Miles and Flora though their parents die, and their uncle effectively abandons him, they still have lot who are willing to look after them, such as Mrs Grose and the Governess. They are also both view by the people around them. The community idealises Edward he is treated as a phase, the latest craze. They have preconceived notions of him, but dont take the t ime to get to know him and see if theyre actually true. In the childrens case, this is where the Governess idealises Miles and Flora. She imagines them to be so perfect and innocent, but she doesnt take the time to get to know them. Because of this, when they act differently to the conduct she expects of them, she thinks something is wrong. Edward and Miles are both seen to have dangerous characters, and because of this they eventually become shunned or kicked out though the extent to which this happen differs. Miles is seen as a danger to the other children, and is kicked out of his school, but he is not jilted or shunned overall, just from one place. In contrast, Edward is eventually shunned by society as a hearty because they dont understand him. As a result of this, he is rejected by society, and becomes an outcast. The narrative structure of the two texts is also quite similar. Both of them are told by a female, and in the first person. This viewpoint makes the trading floor seem more personal, as it gives the reader or the viewer a better insight into what sincerely took place. Both stories also start off in the present tense, with someone talking about the events which had previously taken place, before sacking into an account of the written report. However, in The Turn of the Screw, we never go back to the overlord setting, whereas in Edward Scissorhands we are taken back to the original storyteller to finish the story. In both instances, it also gives the feel of the storyteller holding onto the secret, and waiting for the right time and place to finally tell their story to a willing audience. There are a number of general things which are common in both the texts. One of these is that both The Turn of the Screw and Edward Scissorhands have onlookers that have no control over the story, and dont fully understand what is going on. In Edward Scissorhands, the onlooker is Kim Pegs daughter who is a silent observer, and unsure as to what is happen ing. In The Turn of the Screw, this onlooker is Mrs Grose. Mrs Grose has no control over the actions of any of the other characters, and is forced to sit back and watch as the events take place around her, not fully knowing what isgoing on. Another theme common in both texts, as well as being common in the gothic genre, is the idea of a woman being threatened by a powerful, impulsive, compulsive male.In The Turn of the Screw, this is Quint, who, though dead, makes the Governess feel threatened. In Edward Scissorhands, the male is Jim Kims boyfriend. She feels threatened by his actions, and especially at his reaction to Edward. But the most obvious similarity between the two texts is that both have a perfect society, which slowly falls away, leaving the reader with an image of a very tainted place. In Edward Scissorhands, the community that he lives in is regarded as perfect, with everyone being accepting of him. However, as the story progresses, the perfect image falls away and we are left with a community that is biased and judgemental. In The Turn of the Screw, it first appears as though everything is perfect particularly the beauty of Bly, and the childrens characters, but we soon learn that it isnt.Overall, while there are some aspects of the texts which are entirely different, there are too many similarities for one to say that they are not alike in some way. These similarities are shown in a number of areas in the genre, the narrative structure, the characters actions and thoughts, as well as the overall themes and ideas which are introduced. However, whether The Turn of the Screw and Edward Scissorhands are similar or entirely different, they are both classic examples of the gothic genre of fiction.

There is no great mystery surrounding what constitutes the material dimension. Our ability to think inwardly, to reason, is what separates us from other living creatures. This ability to think inwardly and pursue tranquility is what makes living worthwhile. This paper looks at the impact of sort on individual success and the slipway people can impr ove their success by improving their manners and actions. The performance of a melody depends on how its make-up behaves in the midst of dynamic environment, competition and alter consumers. The success and failure of a moving in firm confide much on the type of its organizational look. A line of reasoning firm encounters misgiving and assay in its operation which mostly related to changes in the economic condition, consumer preferences and competitors. There is too the quarrel brought by the highly competitive commercialize that a business firm has to font. In addition, organizational behavior includes changes in its internal organization such as the employees, shareholders and the management.George Jones (2000) define organizational behavior as the teaching of the many factors that have an impact on how individuals and groups respond to and act in organizations and how organizations manage their environments. It deals with the interaction amongst the organization a nd the individuals or its employees. The study of organizational behavior provides a set of tools that explains why people in an organization stay for many years or leave in a short flow of time.It withal explains why there are people who are considered assets in a company but others are not. The study of organizational behavior also serves as an instrument that allows the management to identify volume and weaknesses of each individual or group. In this way, promoting changes in an organization will improve the capacity of each member to achieve the organizations common goal and objective. Gibson et al (2002) maintains that effective management of behaviors ineluctably an understanding of theory research and practice. It is essential that these three characteristics be incorporated both in individual and organizational success.Author Derrick sums up his idea of an ethical way of life as being a passionate way of life as well when he begins his book with the saying that An ethica l determination at which you can work with passion and integrity is a key component in a satisfying life. Derrick is not the common self-help psychology author. The reader is made to feel that what he says is sacred and worth reading. He has all his insights about life in that book. It seems that passion is a main issue to him as he repeats it again on page 18 as he says. An ethical life is, of necessity, a passionate one (p. 18).As one reads the book, the reader is reminded how the values he expounds in his book can be linked to actual work settings. For instance, the value of courage as he explains is not so much in being brave but in owning up to ones duties and responsibilities. Blaming has neer been an asset in any company, especially a prison where a mistake can be fatal when things go awry. When people start blaming other departments for the problems that arise, thus, there must something wrong with the way that introduction has been realisedin the first place. What is su re though is the faulty attitude that makes up that particular organization. This is also a big conversation barrier that use ups immediate remedy. When one has a grudge against someone, he tends to make that someone responsible for everything he finds wrong. But when one is honest about his dealings with people, then that honesty re dramatic plays back to him many folded. When a person in one department blames someone, his desire to imagine and punish is often what is at work. Someone blames another when he is angry because the action made things turn out differently than he wishedif not through his words, then through his manner and tone of voice. unrivaled can put all the responsibility for what happened to him, in a way that implies what he did was wrong or bad. Moreover, blame breeds resentment. its your fault is a red-flag phrase. It is to a person what a matadors cape is to a bull. The hooker in blame is that smidgen of truth in what one said or implied. 1 can seldom say, Thats just what you feel-it has nothing to do with me. When a persons blamer goes to work, it is very canny. It knows exactly where to go zap, where to pick out that nasty kernel of truth. A put-down artist is an safe at zeroing in on where you feel bad about oneself and making him feel even littler there. Two messages get mixed up in blame one partys control of how he feels (Im angry and disappointed) and ones evaluation of the other party ( scrap like you shouldnt be aloud to work in this company.).The feelings about the situation are often hidden in the you-are-bad message, instead of being said straight out. One-way blaming in the organization is subordinate is help open up communication mingled with two blaming departments. Members of these departments must also be reminded that they need to take responsibility for their part in what happened. In the end, there is respect to the proper authorities. Each organization has its own characteristics depicted by the behaviors of i ts members or employees. They share a common behavior which is already established among them even though employees come and go over time. This common behavior is considered as an organizational destination that bonds the relationship among employees and management. Employees will only adapt to this subtlety and it is difficult for anyone to deviate.Hence, an organizational culture also influences the behavior of an individual. Since it is very hard to deviate from an organizational culture, adjustment in most cases takes time. Organizational culture also changes overtime. An workout of this is the changes in workplace environment. Traditionally, a workplace environment is characterized by workstation, mogul space or building. With the advent of new technology in communication, the use of virtual office has been introduced. A virtual office allows an employee to work at home or at any place of his or her convenience. An organization culture may develop in this kind of work envir onment that will involve even workers set all over the globe. The introduction of new technologies in communication, the internet in particular, provides many opportunities for many business firms. employment firms can expand its market from local to international customers. However, business firms will also face the threat of increasing competition and the uncertainty of customer preferences. The diversity of the competitors and costumers in the world market is a big challenge for creating new business strategies. Competitors are diversified in harm of product features, prices and selling schemes. On the other hand, customers differ in preferences, taste and purchasing power. In addition, the international market itself is diversified in terms of government regulations, technological facilities, culture, tradition and religion. (Leading Quietly). The new challenges brought by the diversified international market require organizational effectiveness and efficiency to succeed in business. Organizational effectiveness and efficiency rely much on the business strategies that decision-makers formulate. Each organization is unique and has its own characteristics. This means that decision-makers such as private instructors and corporate heads must have business strategies fit to the needs of the organizations. Decisions should consider internal and external factors as well as short- and long-term goals that affect business goals. However, any decision made also comes with risk in which the outcome may not be satisfactory. But this may serve as a swindleing experience for an organization to improve its performance in the future especially in terms of the way they conduct their business (Business Ethics). Organizational learning is part of an organizations development functioning. Business strategies evolve overtime as market shifts from simple to complex customer needs. Effective learning process among decision-makers includes their relationship with the market , colleagues and the organization. They should learn as an individual to make themselves more capable and effective. They should also learn as an organization to impart with them the organizations goals and objectives. Organizational learning varies in different form. Some organizations learn from external factors while others learn from indoors. External factors such as business cycles, economic condition and competitors behavior influence managements decision. Likewise, internal factors such as employees empowerment, management change and organizational restructure affect business performance.Asking is a process of learning within an organization. It is not wrong for a conductor to ask or seek suggestions from his or her subordinates. This management style can introduce teamwork within the organization. The role of a manager may shift from one who direct, commands or dictates tasks to one who coaches, coordinates or oversees business goals. However, this type of management practi ce requires that employees should share with the organizations goal, mission and strategies. This only happens if communication between the organization and the employees has been well-established. Communication starts in the beginning of employment. Each employee should be aware of the organizations mission, vision and goal. He or she knows the importance of the job that he or she will perform and how this will endure to achieve the organizations goal. An employees perception may be different from the way he or she behaves in an organization. However, better communication between the organization itself and the employees will facilitate as nonindulgent tools to the perception of an employee that might be influenced by his or her work environment.Bell has insightful nuggets of wisdom interspersed in his book as he views corrupt leaders as being too much money-oriented. deal need to be informed about standing up for ones true beliefs. An example here iswhen departments do not commu nicate or update the status of information, because they are afraid the emboss will be angry. To avoid this, employees must be able to follow up to determine whether burning(prenominal) messages have been understood. Feedback doesnt have to be verbal in fact, actions often speak louder than words. The sales manager who describes desired changes in the monthly sales planning report receives feedback from the report itself when it is turned in. If it contains the proper changes, the manager knows the message was received and understood. Managers who tell everyone to see the big picture often create a solemn communication overload. Rather than trying to keep everyone involved, top-level management need to follow the need-to-know principle transmitting communication and updating people in other areas of the organization that need the necessary information. Sometimes it is useful to mystify the flow of information and procedures that need to be brought to the attention of the people in the other departments. As long as performance falls within the acceptable range, the regular procedures are followed.ReferencesBell, D.(2002). Ethical Ambition vivification a Life of Meaning and Worth. Techniques of Research in Health Essay Example for Free
Techniques of Research in Health EssaySTATEMENT OF THE PROBLEMImmigrants to the United States represent a substantial and rapidly maturation group that totaled more than forty-three million people or 13.5 shargon of the U.S race in 2015 (Migration Policy institute (MPI), 2015). Since 1970, this percentage has almost tripled rising from 4.7% of the creation to the current 13.5% in 2015 and shows no signs of decrease (MPI Immigration over time 1850-2015). The inflow of immigrants regular into sm completelyer states is having a profound effect on a growing number of local communities as immigrants settle in non-traditional destinations like Minnesota and coupling Dakota. States that had relatively low percentages of immigrants argon seeing these universes grow by big margins up to 90 percent in both(prenominal) cases(Derose, K. et al, 2007). The make-up of this immigrant population is diverse, for instance, India was the leading country of origin for recent immigrants, with 179,800 arriving in 2015, followed by 143,200 from China, 139,400 from Mexico, 47,500 from the Philippines, and 46,800 from Canada. In 2013, India and China overtook Mexico as the top origin countries for recent arrivals. While Minnesota still has proportionally fewer immigrants than the U.S. as a whole with 8.3% of its population being immigrants comp bed to 13.5% nationally, the states foreign-born population is actually increasing faster than the national average. (Immigration Overview Minnesota Compass)In Minnesota, the number of immigrants has tripled since 1990, but nationally it only doubled. Immigrants are among the fastest growing populations in Minnesota, growing by 76 percent since 2000, compared with a 12 percent growth rate for the states population overall. This translates to around 457,000 Minnesota residents who are foreign-born by the end of 2015, including umteen refugees who fled their home countries. Over 80% of these immigrant groups are concentrated in the 7 -county twin cities metro area. (Immigration Overview Minnesota Compass)Immigrants are often identifiedas a vulnerable population, that is, a group at increased danger for poor physical, psychological, and social wellness outcomes and inadequate wellness fearfulness. The vulnerability is shaped by many factors, including political and social marginalization and a lack of socioeconomic and societal resources. Addressing the health care needs of immigrant populations is get tosay both beca expenditure of the heterogeneity of this group and because recent federal and state policies have restricted some immigrants attack to health care. These policies have exacerbated existing differences in access, for example, legal residents versus undocumented and long-term residents versus recent arrivals. The stigma associated with some forms of immigration status for example, undocumented versus refugee, can also contribute to vulnerability. (https//studymoose.com/ ejects-facing-latino-imm igrants-in-todays-political-climate-essay).Given immigrants concentration in the 7-county twin cities metro area, a major public health concern is their access to health services. At present in the United States, health insurance is the best way to ensure access to health care. A key provision of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is the requirement that private insurance plans summit recommended preventive services without any patient cost-sharing. This provision is important because it increases access to preventive healthcare by lowering costs and eliminating some costs. According to the Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured, uninsured individuals are less in all probability to receive preventive care or care for routine medical conditions and injuries. Lack of preventive health care and lack of treatment for medical conditions can lead to more serious illnesses and health problems. This, in turn, can result in hospitalizations and deaths that could have been prevented. (H ealth Key Measures Minnesota Compass). As these Immigrant groups assimilate and acclimatize into the system, the issue of Immigrant access to health care falls off as they begin to function and can gain access to health insurance through their employers. Existing literature suggests that there is a disparity in the utilisation of healthcare in general and even preventive health care.Statement of the problem handicap care includes health services like screenings, check-ups, and patient counseling that are used to prevent illnesses, disease, and new(prenominal) health problems, or to detect illness at an early stage when treatment is presumable to progress to best. Getting recommended preventive services and making healthy lifestyle choices are key steps to ripe(p) health and well-being. The existing literature on preventive care tends to focus on access to these procedures and even those few that are focused on employment are mainly leaning towards individuals already diagnos ed with particular disease states such as diabetes. However, since preventive care practice recommendations are intended for all in line individuals, it would seem more appropriate to apply a broader view on the use of preventive care services among healthy, disease-free individuals. (Prevention Office of the Associate Director for Policy CDC)The significance of the problemThe purpose of this study is to examine trends in the utilization of preventive care services among eligible immigrant groups in the twin cities area and examine it to that of the non-immigrant population. Findings from this study allow assist in identifying subpopulations that are not utilizing preventive care services adequately, thereby increasing their risk for developing chronic conditions. Taking a broad approach through predicting the use of preventive care services for all eligible individuals will draw the attention of policymakers towards individuals less likely to use health promotion and prevent ion services, and thus enable appropriate health care hitch recommendations.Research questionsThis study will seek to answer the following research questionsWhat are the rates of utilization of preventive health care among these different immigrant subgroups in the twin cities? What is the rate of utilization of preventive health care among the non-immigrant population in the twin cities? What are the differences or similarities in preventive healthcare utilization rates among the different subgroups and the non-immigrant population?AssumptionsThe study assumes that all participants will answer truthfully to all the questions, to this end, all participants are informed of their anonymity and confidentiality that will be preserved. The participants are informed about their right to recess from the study at any time and with no ramifications.LimitationsThis study depends on self-reports of participants, it is possible for participants to provide answers that they calculate to be so cially acceptable even if not true. The interviewer will prod for more accurate answers by trying to reformulate the question where they believe this to be the case.Access to these subgroups is dependent on social contacts information and although helpful, it may not be representative of the subgroups. A profile of severally subgroup can help carry off potential variations created by this limitation. This study also designates a geographical region, the 7-county twin cities metro area. The study assumes that the prototype in the metro is representative of those in the greater Minnesota. Given the cultural heterogeneity of the participants, the researcher may not be culturally competent in the different cultures and may have to depend on a guidance from social contacts. The time needed to conduct this study is limited and therefore requires a limited sample size.DelimitationsFocus on Immigrant groups in the twin cities metro area provide thingummy in location of residence and th e concentration of immigrants as opposed to those living in the greater Minnesota. virtually immigrant groups originate from areas where healthy practices are automatically built into their lifestyles. For instance, if you cannot afford to buy a vehicle, then you will have to walk to and from the nearest means of public transportation. Likewise, some immigrant groups do not go to chat a doctor or a hospital unless they are unwell. These differences inspired the focus on gauging utilization of preventive health care services. The sample size will be determined by the subgroups population proportion to the population of Minnesota. This research will focus on adults with health insurance this is so as to eliminate access to preventive health procedures as a variable in the study.Definition of callPreventive healthcare Health procedures including screenings, immunizations, and counseling. The study will select six overall procedures two from each category. Utilization The measure of the populations use of the health care services available to them.
